New brand in the Southern League

Most minor league fans knew that there will be a new team in the Southern League. Maybe new is not exactly the right word; the Huntsville Stars will move to Biloxi MS next season. The question remains if the new stadium is ready in time, so the team can start the season as the Biloxi Shuckers.

This is a current view of the construction, so it remains questionable if the stadium is ready in time.
Biloxi

My first thought: “What on earth is a shucker?” Well, a shucker is used in the clam fishing industry. It removes the shell from a clam or oyster. The name is totally  fitting with the fishing industry of Biloxi.

I have read some negative comments already, but I like the name and the logo. Especially the fact that it fits the city of Biloxi is a good thing in my humble opinion.

Once more the logo was designed by Brandiose, who also designed the new logo of the San Antonio Missions, the Akron RubberDucks and the El Paso Chihuahuas.

The primary logo shows the Biloxi Shuckers name within an oyster shell, with a pair of pearl-shaped eyes on top. Other marks include a stylized interlocking “BS” as well as a lighthouse emblem featuring the “B” overlaid on top of it.

Below there is a preview of how the caps and jersey will look like.

The webstore of the Shuckers shows the new caps already:
