You may call me a big kid, but this is the kind of news that I like. A minor league team rebranding or restyling. In case of the San Antonio Missions, they will have a new look in 2015. In cases like this, I am always looking forward to check out the caps. I am a sucker for authentic baseball caps. 😉
The former club of Dutch national team player Kalian Sams will switch from black and gold to blue as the main colour.
Where the previous logo showed a detailed Alamo, the old mission is now restyled to an A of the cap logo. The S of the cap logo is a Davy Crockett hat. These two combine for the road cap. The home cap also shows a restyled Alamo but in the shape of a letter M. The batting practice cap resembles the road cap. The difference between the two is that the Davy Crockett hat is replaced by an S shaped Jalapeno pepper.
The jerseys are very playful too. The M of the club name is also shaped like the Alamo. I can appreciate that despite the restyling process, the team will stick with the history of San Antonio, The Alamo to be exact.
The logos are designed by Brandiose. This designer company has been rebranding several minor league clubs recently: the Akron RubberDucks (former Akron Aeros) and the new El Paso Chihuahuas (peronally I think they have one of the worst logos in MiLB).
As told above, I am really looking forward to the day that the new jerseys and caps will be on sale in the Missions’ webshop.
