Dutchies in the Major Leagues: Wednesday September 17, 2014
It appears that the Dodgers don’t want to win the NL West pennant. Last night they lost again vs the Rockies: 16-2. Roger Bernadina got a pinch hit appearance but grounded out 3-1. The Giants inched a bit closer with their 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
Boston lost with big numbers as well. The Pirates were way too strong: 9-1. Xander Bogaerts went 0 for 4 with a strikeout and four runners left on base, but Xander did drive in a run when he hit a dribbler towards shortstop Clint Barnes who fired the ball to first base. Bryce Brentz scored on the play.
The Orioles beat the Blue Jays 6-1. Jonathan Schoop was the starting second baseman once again and went 1 for 2. He scored one run. He was also a part of a 6-4-3 double play in which he showed that he has a nice arm.
Already out of contention for the NL East pennant, the Braves got back on the .500 level with a 3-1 vitcory over Washington. Andrelton Simmons couldn’t get a hit out of two at bats and left two runners on base. He was part of a 6-4-3 double play. Andrelton left the game in the fourth inning with what appeared to be a tweaked ankle.
