vs Like I wrote last week, Mampaey the Hawks (last in the Hoofdklasse) and DSS (winner of the Overgangsklasse) will play a best-of-five series to decide who will play in the highest league in the Netherlands next year. The road team, DSS from Haarlem, scored the opening run in the top of the…
vs Yesterday, L&D Amsterdam Pirates headed to Rotterdam to take on still reigning champion DOOR Neptunus. In the first game of the best of seven series, things went rather different than I expected. Even though I am rooting for L&D Amsterdam Pirates, I think that DOOR Neptunus is the team to beat. IMHO, DOOR…
As a Yankee fan, I couldn’t let this pass by without mentioning it. Last night was Derek Jeter’s last game at Yankee Stadium. End of an era. End of one of the greatest eras in the history of the Yankees. Sure Jeter still has to play three games in Boston, where I hope the fans…
Some more news about PDC extensions or about new PDC contracts. A Full Season: The Cubs Midwest League affiliate in South Bend will be called the South Bend Cubs. What a lack of inspiration here. Was it really too hard to think of a new name that is related to the area? More news from…

About two weeks ago I wrote about the play downs, a series of games between the team that finished last in the Hoofdklassen and the team that won the Overgangsklasse. This series will start coming Saturday, 27th of September. Two weeks ago, DSS from Haarlem was leading the Overgangsklasse by one point over Twins from…
Yogi Berra said it once: “It aint over until it’s over.” Italy proved that this Berraism is very true. After the Dutch took a 5-0 lead, all runs but one were scored on solo homeruns, the Italians started to get back into the game. In the top of the fourth, the Italians started to see…
Four runs in the first and six runs in the second inning were enough for Spain to claim the victory over France. The French scored a run in the first, three in the fifth and one in the sixth for the final score 10-5. With this victory Spain won the bronze medal. Finally Germany won…
Mike Bolsenbroek going nine shutout innings and two homeruns. That’s the story of the game between the Netherlands and Italy in a nutshell. Both teams didn’t score in the first inning. But the Netherlands took a small lead when Yurendell de Caster hit a mammoth solo homerun over the left field fence. It cleared the…
