Another Italian team in financial problems
Recently you could read here that two teams from the Italian Baseball League faced financial difficulties. ASD Baseball Parma and BSC Nettuno, two former baseball power houses are on the brink of withdrawal from the IBL due to these financial problems .
Two days ago, www.baseball.it published that another team from the IBL has announced that it will withdraw because it cannot meet the financial standards set by the IBL for the 2016 season. Godo Knights that played in the IBL for the past ten years, is hoping that it can be placed in the Serie A, which is more or less the league where the farm teams of the IBL teams are playing.
It is up to the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS) whether there will be a replacement for the Godo Knights. It remains to be seen of course if clubs from the lower leagues are willing to replace the Godo Knights.
A sad development as the Knights celebrated their 50th anniversary this
year.
Being the third club in financial trouble in 2015, you can wonder how long it will take before the IBL folds and Italy will return to amateur baseball again.
