HCAW needs to look for a new manager as well

Only two weeks after De Glaskoning Twins’ manager Kevin Knollenburg announced to quit managing after this season, HCAW announced through a press release that its manager of the flagship team, Roelie Henrique Sr. has decided to call it a managing career as well.

After three years at the helm of the team in which his son Roelie Henrique Jr. is playing as well, Henrique Sr has decided to spend more time to his private life.

Preceding the 2016 season, Henrique Sr. joined the technical staff of the flagship team. During his first season, he functioned as an assistant coach. After interim coach Roy Berrevoets, who replaced the released Ralph Milliard, stepped down, Henrique Sr. was appointed head coach/manager. With him at the helm of the team, HCAW slowly managed to get closer to the top two in the Dutch hoofdklasse.

According to some of his players, Henrique was a laid back person. According to third baseman Vince Rooi, he was a real leader. His son, Roelie Jr. once stated that his father could be a bit tougher. Some players want to test you so sometimes it is necessary to use a whip, figuratively spoken.

This season HCAW was far from a pushover as it gave both L&D Amsterdam Pirates and Curaçao Neptunus a hard time, especially during the playoffs.

In the coming weeks, HCAW will look for a successor.
