Kevin Knollenburg new manager of De Glaskoning Twins

Today, De Glaskoning Twins announced their new manager on their website. After the 2017 season, the club decided it was time for a new skipper. After about three weeks the club has found its new manager in former first and third base coach Kevin Knollenburg.

Kevin Knollenburg has about 31 years of baseball experience under his belt, of which 11 in the Netherlands. The former Belgian international played as a catcher and they say that former catchers are the best managers. Look at Mike Scioscia, Joe Torre and Joe Girardi for example.

In an interview with the website of De Glaskoning Twins, Kevin expressed his wish to become a manager one day.  That moment has come sooner than he may have hoped for.

After his active career, Kevin stayed in baseball. He moved to the Hoboken Pioneers (Hoboken in Belgium), where he became an assistant coach. After two years with the Hoboken Pioneers, he accepted an offer of UVV to become assistant coach in Utrecht. At that time Ferenq Jongejan was manager of the (now former) Dutch hoofdklasse club.

Eventually, in 2016, Kevin moved to Oosterhout to become the third base coach of Twins.  Kevin had quite some influence with most of the clubs he played for as he celebrated several championships, both as a player and as a manager. In the two years after the club earned the promotion to the Dutch hoofdklasse as they swept Mampaey the Hawks from Dordrecht 3-0 in a promotion/ relegation series, he was assistant coach in 2016 and 2017.
