Summing up the Dutchies per MLB organization: Tampa Bay Rays
In this episode of “Summing up the Dutchies”, a team where only one Dutchie is playing in the low minors. Today I will shed light on:
Alex Rodriguez:
No this is not about Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees. This is about Alex Rodriguez from Willemstad on Curacao.
The 21-year old signed as a left handed pitcher with the Colorado Rockies in June 2013, the same month that the Rockies appointed him to the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Northwest League. In that first season Alex struggled in six relief appearances that year. In five innings pitched he gave up five earned runs which put his ERA at 9.00 and his WHIP at 2.60.
The next season Alex was sent to the Grand Junction Rockies of the Pioneer League. In ten appearances (one start), Alex posted a 7.20 ERA and a WHIP of 2.00. On October 22 2014, the Rockies released Alex due to disappointing results. 
But on May 23 of this year, the Rays signed Alex and assigned him to the DSL Rays. Instead of using him as a pitcher the Rays are trying to convert him into a first baseman. And so far he isn’t doing bad defensively. In 62 games at that position he committed only 5 errors, leading to a .991 fielding percentage.
At bat Alex isn’t doing too shabby either. In 63 games he has collected 61 hits in 220 at bats (.277). He also collected thirteen doubles, one triple and two homeruns.
After his release by the Rockies his future as a ballplayer looked gloomy. But with this numbers in his first season as a first baseman this season, the future looks more bright. It is too soon to tell if Alex will make it to the Major Leagues, but at the age of 21 there is still time to develop himself and spend a couple of years in the minors.
