PDC news from Cleveland and Seattle
You may start to think that this PDC news is never coming to an end but probably we’re nearing the end since during the last two seasons several player development contracts 
have been extended meanwhile.
Anyhow, there is news regarding extensions of player development contracts from Cleveland and Seattle.
The Cleveland Indians have extended their PDC with the Akron RubberDucks (AA, Eastern League) for a period of four years through the 2020 season. Since 1989 the franchise is part of the Indians organization. Back then the club was called the Canton-Akron Indians. In the meantime the club has adopted a few other names as well. From 1997 through 2013, the club operated under the name Akron Aeros before switching to the RubberDucks moniker in 2014.
Cleveland Indians Director of Player Development Carter Hawkins led off the exchange of pleasantries with the following praising words: “ Ken Babby and his team have gone over the top in making Akron a top-of-the-line facility for our players, our staff, and the tremendous fans who come to see them play. It has truly been a partnership, so extending our relationship with the RubberDucks was an easy decision. We couldn’t be more excited to continue the relationship with the team and the city of Akron, and look forward to many years of championship-caliber baseball at Canal Park.”
The RubberDucks are a four time Eastern League champion. They won the pennant in 2003, 2005, 2009 and 2012. Several Major League players have called Akron home. Francisco Lindor, Mike Clevinger and Jeremy Guthrie.

We can’t wait to watch the next wave of Indians superstars to come through Canal Park during the next four seasons”, said said RubberDucks General Manager Jim Pfander.
More PDC news comes from Seattle as the M’s extended their PDC with their A Full Season farm club, the Clinton LumberKings with two years through the 2018 season. 
The LumberKings joined the Mariners’ organization in 2009, when the Mariners replaced the Texas Rangers as parent club and since that year, the club has made the Midwest League playoffs five times. Current stars like Kyle Seager and Taijuan Walker played in Clinton.
Ted Tornow, General Manager of the LumberKings praised the Mariners’ organization: “We’re very excited to be re-affiliated with the Seattle Mariners. This year has been a magical year for us, as it has been a recommitment to playing baseball. We’ve been really excited about all of the great prospects and talent they have given us over the years and we look forward to the next two years with them moving forward.”
At least three Dutchy players have called Clinton home for a while: Kalian Sams and Lars Huijer from the Netherlands and Gianfranco Wawoe from Curacao has played for the LumberKings.
Mariners Director of Player Development Andy McKay stated : “I’ve been here less than a year and our work in Clinton has gone remarkably well.” said. Obviously the results have showed on the field, and as a group the Mariners could not be more excited to continue this commitment with the City of Clinton and the LumberKings for the next two years.”
The history of affiliated baseball in Clinton goes back to 1937 when the Brooklyn Dodgers had a farm team here. Of course there was professional baseball before, but in 1895, 1906-1907 and 1910-1917 farm teams were not invented yet.
