2026 Belgian Divison One: Playoff Landscape Set

In the final round of the regular season, two teams extended their season with at least two games, as the Brussels Kangaroos shoved aside the Borgerhout Squirrels, and the Merchtem Cats beat the Namur Angels twice to advance to the championship tournament.

The Brussels Kangaroos dominated the game as they walked away to a 6-0 lead until the bottom of the seventh inning, when Borgerhout finally did something back by scoring two runs. One inning later the Squirrels would score one more run but that was all, offensive-wise. The Kangaroos collected fourteen hits, the Squirrels ten. Jade Thorne pitched a complete game and allowed three runs on ten hits and two walks as he struck out six.
Tomorrow, both teams will face each other for the final game of the regular season.

The Merchtem Cats did what they needed to do: winning twice. In game one against the Namur Angels, it was a close affair, in which neither team did score until the seventh inning, when Ewout Vrijders drove in Lennert Schats from third base. Two innings later, the Cats added another run to their score to win the game 2-0.
In the second game, the Angels weren’t a match as they were outscored 13-5 and outhit 13-7.

A tough day for Phoenix Mont-Saint-Guibert, that was in the driver seat until this weekend. Phoenix faced defending champion Brasschaat Braves, and lost both matches. The first game was a close one (2-3), but in the second game, the Braves were much stronger as they won 9-3 despite committing four errors.

The Brussels Kangaroos and the Merchtem Cats will advance to the championship tournament. For Phoenix Mont-Saint-Guibert, the season is over. The Namur Angels will have two more weeks to prepare for the promotion/relegation series against the champion of Division Two.
