Owen Ozanich Joins Canadian Baseball League
In an Instagram post, the Welland Jackfish of the Canadian Baseball League (former Intercounty Baseball League) announced they hired French pitcher Owen Ozanich for the 2026 season.
The Welland Jackfish were added to the Intercounty Baseball League in 2019 and won two championships so far: 2023 and 2025.

Ozanich was born in France before moving to Aruba and then the United States. He grew up in South Burlington, Vermont. Ozanich played two seasons for both the SBHS varsity team and the South Burlington Legion team. In 2007, Ozanich helped lead the Rebels to a 20-0 record and the Vermont State Championship. That summer, the legion team composed of many of the same players also won the state championship, posting a 30-7 overall record.
In Europe, Ozanich has led the French Division I in wins, strikeouts, saves and ERA and has a 112-22 record for the Rouen Huskies, Parmaclima and Montpellier Barracudas in 15 seasons.
In his three seasons with Montpellier, Ozanich posted a 10-1 record with a 2.08 ERA, a WHIP of 0.97, and limited his opponents to a batting average of .225 in 95.1 innings pitched.
This move to Canada won’t be his first international trip. Owen also played in Italy (as mentioned before for Parmaclima), in Australia for the Adelaide Bite (now the Adelaide Giants), and in Chile for Industriales from Santiago (not to be mixed up with Industriales from Cuba).
With the addition of Owen Ozanich, the Jackfish will get a workhorse even though he didn’t pitch as many innings in the past seasons as he did before.
