Palm Beach Cardinals Add Cool Alternate Identity

Like many Minor League clubs nowadays, the Palm Beach Cardinals (Single A, Florida League) have adopted a rather cool alternate identity. Please welcome the Frozen Iguanas.

First yours truly thought what on earth does this have to do with Florida? But frozen Iguanas are a phenomenon in Florida where cold temperatures immobilize these reptiles, causing them to fall from trees, though they aren’t truly dead, but temporarily stunned (in torpor (a state of decreased physiological activity in an animal, usually marked by a reduced body temperature)) and can revive as it warms up. When it gets below 40°F (around 4°C), iguanas lose muscle control, stiffen, and fall from branches, a common occurrence during winter cold snaps in South Florida.

There is some merch available already but not that much. What yours truly could find regarding on field stuff is the photo below.

Assuming this is the look of the alternate identity, I must say I like it a lot.
The navy cap with the baby blue front and the Frozen Iguana logo is simply awesome. But as it happens more often with these alternate identities, the merch, especially the caps, comes with a hefty price tag. The cap will cost you a whopping $50,00. Since MLB has taken over MiLB in a cost cutting move, things are getting less affordable.

Nevertheless, the new look is very nice and well chosen as it suits Palm Beach very well.
