New Sports Group Acquires Two MiLB clubs

After similar news yesterday, another new sports group announced to have acquired two MiLB teams. OnDeck Partners bought the Montgomery Biscuits and the Visalia Rawhide.

The group is even this new, there is not a logo online when you google for logos. The OnDeck Partners sports group was founded by the Avenue Sports Fund and made a splash by acquiring the 2007 and 2008 Southern League champions Montgomery Biscuits (AA, Tampa Bay Rays) and the 1971, 1978, and 2019 California League champions Visalia Rawhide (Single-A, Arizona Diamondbacks).

These acquisitions mark the first step in OnDeck’s long-term vision to invest in fun, affordable entertainment while elevating the fan experience with the goal of deepening the connection between local communities and the game.

Mike Carney, CEO of OnDeck Partners stated: “As OnDeck Partners begins its journey, we see incredible opportunities to create unforgettable fan experiences and to enhance in-stadium offerings, resulting in stronger connections between local communities and the game. The Biscuits and the Rawhide have both been long-time pillars of community spirit and entertainment. Our goal is to enhance these hometown team experiences, ensuring our ballparks remain places where communities gather, celebrate, and create lasting memories together.”

The OnDeck group aims to enhance the traditions fans love while introducing forward-looking innovations in game day and entertainment, fan experience, and community engagement, by uniting these two baseball clubs.

The Montgomery Biscuits were founded in 2004 when the Orlando Rays moved to the capital of Alabama. The Visalia Rawhide have a long history in the Californian Central Valley, as they were founded in 1946 as the Visalia Cubs. Through the years, they have adopted names of their parent clubs many times, but in 1977 they adopted the name Visalia Oaks for the first time. After a short stint as Central Valley Rockies (1993-1994), the club returned to its Oaks moniker until 2009 when the club turned to the current name.
