Phildrick Llewellyn Extends His Stay in Germany
Today, the Heidenheim Heideköpfe announced they signed Phildrick Llewellyn for the 2025 season. He is one of two players with a Dutch passport, signed for the upcoming season.
Next to Johnaikel Acosta, Phildrick is the second player from the Dutch kingdom to join the seven-time German champion. Phildrick is a utility player that can play as a catcher, as an infielder, and as an outfielder.
Until 2015, Phildrick made some strides in affiliated Minor League Baseball as he played for farm teams of the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Baltimore Orioles. After being released, he extended his professional career in the US by playing for several teams in the independent Pecos League. He also played for the Québec Capitales and moved to Italy to play for the Rmini Pirates of the Italian Serie A (top tier league in Italy).
In 2019, he joined the Untouchables Paderborn of the German 1. Baseball Bundesliga. He stayed with the club through the 2022 season. Even though he was one of the most popular players with the club, his contract wasn’t extended. As a result, he signed with the reigning German champions Bonn Capitals for the 2023 season. In 2024, Phildrick signed with the München-Haar Disciples.
According to baseball-bundesliga.de, Phildrick will be penciled as a catcher for the Heideköpfe, thanks to his athletic phisique. But for sure, the Heideköpfe won’t use him solely as a catcher.
