In this third episode of “Transactions in Belgian Baseball For the 2022 Season,” we pay attention to the players that joined and that left the Borgerhout Squirrels.
For the first time in this series, we have a club, where no players will look for greener pastures in the Netherlands. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t players leaving the Squirrels. But in general, it was almost “all quiet on the transaction front.”
Infielder/catcher Ferre van Hees has decided to join the newly-promoted Sunville Tigers from Zonhoven for practical reasons. With his departure, there will be a vacant spot at the position of backup catcher. Even though the Squirrels are not looking actively anymore, Yannick Gontier stated a bit as a joke, that if (young) Belgian catchers think they may have a shot at playing in Division 1, they can contact him. New players are always welcome to back up starting catcher Tim Veraghtert during doubleheaders.
The only player that was acquired is Jeremy Boyaleba. This utility player used to play for the Brasschaat Braves, but last year he skipped the season due to work.

According to Yannick Gontier, the Borgerhout Squirrels will go after a foreign pitcher to bolster their pitching staff.
The fact that there is so little to write about the transactions of the Squirrels, is a sign that this team is a coherent group of players.
Even though it was not much information, he could provide, I’d like to thank Yannick Gontier for the info, without which I never could have written this blog post, which was brought to you by
