Today, Dutch baseball website Grand Slam Stats & News announced that Dutch umpire Edwin Louisa is one of four European umpires who have received an invitation by the World Baseball Classic.
Next to Fabry Fabrizi (Italy), Serge Makouchetchev (France), Tim Meyer (Germany) and Cuti Suarez (Spain), Louisa is one of five European umpires to be invited to attend the World baseball Classic.

Louisa will be part of the umpiring crew in group C (Great Britain, USA, Colombia, Canada, and Mexico) which will play at Chase Field in Phoenix, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Currently, Edwin Louisa is one of the best, if not the best, umpires in the Netherlands. Since 2012 he is calling games in the Dutch hoofdklasse. Louisa stated: ,,This is a tremendous honor. I’m honored to get this opportunity”
Since 2012, Louisa umpred in more than three hundred games Since 2016, he is an international umpire. On his track record there are games of the 2018 Women’s World Cup (USA), the 2019 European Championship (Germany), the 2019 Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier (Italy) , the 2016 friendly matches of team Europe against Samurai Japan, the Baseball Week Haarlem (Netherlands) in 2016, 2018 and 2022 and the World Port Tournament (Netherlands) in 2017 and 2019.
