With the transition period at its end, the new roster of the flagship team of L&D Amsterdam Pirates was announced by the club. Not many left the club but the club acquired five new players of which one comes from the farm team of Pirates.
Pitching:
Nelmerson Angela is a new face in the Pirates’ pitching staff. With Silicon Storks, he posted a 3-6 record with a 4.75 ERA and 58 Ks in 77.2 innings pitched. Another new pitcher is Scott Prins, who pitched with Hoofddorp Pioniers last season. He posted a 4-1 record with a splendid ERA of 2.06 and forty-four strikeouts in nine relief outings.
Catching:
A new face behind home plate with the flagship team, is catcher Luca Pastor, who played for the farm team of Pirates in the past two seasons.
Infield:
Also new is Tommy van de Sanden, who played with DSS/Kinheim last year. Tommy batted a very respectable .369 with an OBP of .451. At shortstop, he posted a .964 fielding percentage. One can only wonder why he opts for Pirates as he likely will serve as the backup for Sharlon Schoop.
Outfield:
Another new face in Amsterdam is Rachid Engelhardt, who leaves Quick Amersfoort. The outfielder batted a modest .211 with an OBP of .299. Defensive-wise, Engelhardt posted a .960 fielding percentage.
Mick Vos has left the team from the Dutch capital after one season. He returns to Oosterhout Twins, where he played in 2020, and Max Clarijs called it a career. Also, Gilmer Lampe has left the team, as he joined HCAW, just like Gio de Graauw and Jair van Borkulo. Juan-Carlos Sulbaran joins the archrival Curaçao Neptunus.
