Dornbirn Indians 1 – 6 BK MinskThe game between the Dornbirn Indians and BK Minsk was the story of Yauheni Kurhun. The Belarus pitcher dominated the Austrian lineup for nine innings, allowing an unearned run on one hit and two walks as he fanned twelve. Minsk on the other hand did not have much trouble seeing the pitches of Lochlan Southee. With the Australian on the mound, Minsk scored three runs in the third inning on a bases-clearing triple, one run in the fourth, and two on a home run by Ilya Sladzinski.
Yauheni Kurhun earned the win. Lochlan Southee took the loss after six innings in which he walked two and struck out ten. Youheni Kisliakou was the best hitter for BK Minsk as he went 2 for 3 with with two runs scored.
Draci Brno – Therwil FlyersIf it wasn’t clear before the start of the tournament, Draci Brno made it clear today: The team is the main candidate to earn a promotion to the European Champions Cup. In a depressing entourage (pouring rain and hardly any attendance), the Dragons took a comfortable lead in the first inning as Flyers’ starting pitcher Nathan Alexander Kuchta struggled. He didn’t help his own cause as he made a throwing error when hen tried to turn a double play. After two innings, the game was suspended due to heavy rainfall.
