After the previous owner, Adam Dobb announced he would not renew his license for the Sydney Blue Sox, the ABL had to look for a new owner. Today it was announced a new owner group was found.
The new owner of the Blue Sox will be Sydney-based SCA Sports Pty Ltd, trading as Sports Management Australia.

Sports Management Australia is a leading sports management company based in Sydney Olympic Park and Southeast Asia. It will take over the Blue Sox license for the 2021/2022 Australian Baseball League season and beyond.
Chief executive Mark Wilton stated that “SMA has a strong relationship with Baseball New South Wales on many different levels and the new venture would continue to grow that relationship even stronger.”
“We are excited about the new venture and what we can bring to the overall experience of the Sydney Blue Sox team and their fans,” Wilton said. According to Wilson, the Blue Sox ballpark in Blacktown will look completely different with more kids’ fan engagement activities, new food outlets, corporate hospitality areas, break out areas for families as well as new merchandise offerings.
A better fan experience is nice, even though the previous owner did a good job in that area as well, but fielding a contender would be nice for the fans too. In the past few years, the Blue Sox were far from a contender.
Wilton stated: “We are looking to provide more opportunities and exposure to local Australian players whilst being part of the Sydney Blue Sox teams. We will be making further announcements in the coming weeks in relation to the Baseball managers and coaching staff as well as players.”
