Blesk Jablonec, that will debute in the Czech Extraliga has a first. For the first time in history of European baseball, a player from the Philippines will play at the highest level of a country.
According to Czech baseball website milujeme-baseball.cz, Paulo Macasaet will join Blesk Jablonec.

According to milujeme-baseball.cz, the 25-year-old Macasaet has been a stable member of the Philippines national team since 2015 and has played in several international tournaments, including Qualifier for the 2017 World Baseball Classic. Last year, he was set to play against the Czech team again in the qualifying battles for the World Baseball Classic 2021, which was eventually postponed indefinitely due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
At the age of nineteen, he became the most useful player in the East Asia Cup 2015 in Indonesia, throwing 13 innings in three matches, in which he did not allow a single run. In 2017, he was the starting bowler of the Philippines in the match for third place at the Asian Baseball Championship against South Korea. In the end, however, the Filipinos were not strong enough and finished in fourth place.
