Baseball developments in Haarlem
On their website, DSS from Haarlem has announced it will have talks with neighbour Kinheim. Both teams play at the Pim Mulier Sportspark and are only separated by a small road that lies between their baseball grounds.
According to the website, both clubs have had talks in which they agreed to further talks about a certain cooperation. What this cooperation is about is not mentioned yet.
“Both clubs will investigate the possibility of cooperation. Both boards will meet each other on a short notice to get acquainted with each other. They will shape the trajectory and decide the necessities to get to solid choices for the best interest of both clubs”, according to DSS’ website.
The first thing you may think about is a merger of both clubs. If this is the case, one may wonder what the name of the merger club is: DSS/Kinheim would be a viable option but lacks originality. Choosing the name of one of both possible merger clubs may be another option. The best option may be choosing a completely new name. If it comes down to adopting the name of one of both clubs, Kinheim may have the best rights as the club was founded in 1935 while DSS was founded in 1950.
DSS, the hoofdklasse club, has to play promotion/relegation games vs the winner of the overgangsklasse. Kinheim, the overgangsklasse club, still has a big chance of winning the overgangsklasse. What if both teams will face each other in these games?
For now, it is not clear what both clubs will do. Next, to a merger, one club being the farm team of the other may be another possibility. But if DSS will relegate and Kinheim will not win the championship in the overgangsklasse, a cooperation like this will not make sense. This will only do if one of both clubs will play in the hoofdklasse.
Both clubs will inform their members through special meetings in case important decisions will be made.
For sure this item will have a continuation.
