A son of a Dutch father has been selected to play in the 2018 All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 15 which is part of the All-Star Weekend. The 20-year old Carter Kieboom is having a very solid season.
Carter started the 2018 season with the A-Advanced Potomac Senators. In the first weeks, he struggled a bit but eventually, he straightened the ship and put up solid numbers. In 61 games with the P-Nats and 245 at-bats, Carter collected seventy-three hits which resulted in a .298 batting average. Of those seventy-three hits, fifteen were doubles and eleven were home runs.
These numbers earned him a promotion to AA on June 21. Normally a shift to a higher level brings some problems in adapting to that level. Not so with Carter. So far, Carter has played seventeen games in which he has a better batting average than at A-Advanced (.377). With the Harrisburg Senators, he has collected twenty-six hits, five doubles and two home runs. Over his last ten games, Carter is hitting a whopping .417.
His older brother Spencer is still playing in the Majors with the Washington Nationals after Ramos Wilson’s injury.
Carter was drafted by the Nationals in 2016 and assigned him to the GCL Nationals. Due to an injury, Carter split the season between the Hagerstown Suns, the GCL Nationals and the Auburn DoubleDays.
Currently, Carter is the 62nd overall prospect in the minors and ranked third best prospect of the Nationals.
