Dutch hoofdklasse 2018: round 6, day 3

With L&D Amsterdam Pirates and Curaçao Neptunus preparing for the upcoming European Champions Cup, only two games were played today. DSS was way too strong for Cityside Apartments Quick Amersfoort and HCAW didn’t have a problem with De Glaskoning Twins.
Cityside Apartments Quick Amersfoort 4 – 10 DSS
A regular victory for DSS today. Even though Quick Amersfoort took a 1-0 lead in the first
inning, DSS rallied in the next inning to take a 2-1 lead. In the top of the fourth inning, Quick Amersfoort tied the game once more in the top of the fourth but from there the team only saw DSS walk away. In the bottom of the fifth, DSS scored five times and never looked back. DSS collected four singles in that inning but was also helped by a fielding error, a balk and a wild pitch.
In the next three innings, DSS scored a run each and Quick Amersfoort scored twice in the ninth to reach this 10-4 score.
Starting pitcher Scott Prins pitched five innings for the win. He gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits and struck out four. Jos de Jong, who lasted only 3.2 innings, took
the loss as he gave up six runs (five earned) on six hits and two walks as he struck out one.
Djewi de Lanoi saw the ball well today as he went 5 for 5 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored, which made him the best hitter for DSS today.
HCAW 7 – 0 De Glaskoning Twins
Once again, home advantage didn’t help in this series. HCAW, the road team won again,
like the road teams won in the previous two games as well.
Chris Pfau pitched seven very solid innings in which he gave up only two hits and fanned nine. No surprise he earned the win. His opponent, Misja Harcksen lasted 5.1 innings as he gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks. Once again the defense of De Glaskoning Twins was sloppy as they committed five errors today which lead to three unearned runs for HCAW today.
Until the sixth inning, both teams were well matched as HCAW scored only one run in the third inning. But in the sixth, things would go completely wrong for Twins. Only in that sixth inning alone, Twins committed four errors next to only three hits which allowed HCAW to score six runs. After Misja Harcksen had faced four batters and recorded one out, he was replaced by Jan Evertse. Misja would be tabbed for three of the six runs HCAW scored. Jan Evertse wasn’t able to keep HCAW from scoring as he allowed three runs as well. Eventually, Reynaldo Sarmiento Claro pitched the final two frames in which he gave up only one hit. Sarmiento Claro was sent back to the farm team because he struggled with his control and to build to his confidence. The way he pitched the two
innings must have been a big morale booster.
Roelie Henrique and Berend Ruben both went 2 for 5 but Ruben drove in a run next to the run he scored while Henrique scored once.
