Kia Tigers take 2-1 lead in Korean Series
With a 6-3 victory over the Doosan Bears in Seoul, the Kia Tigers had taken the lead in the Korean Series. Bears starting pitcher Michael Bowden was beaten up as he gave up four runs on five hits and three walks in just four innings and one batter faced in the fifth.
Bowden started well as he cruised through the first two innings. Even after he gave up a
run in the third inning, there was no reason to sound the alarm bell, but after giving up two runs in the fourth inning, Bowden was replaced after allowing the first hitter to get on base on a double to right field in the fifth inning. His successor, Lee Yong-chan, couldn’t keep the Tigers from scoring. Lee Myung-gi was bunted over to third base and driven in on a single to right field, hit by Dutchie Roger Bernadina. The Curaçao native would collect another hit to go 2 for 4 and 4 for 8 in the series.
What could the Doosan Bears do in return? Well, by scoring a run in each of the fourth, seventh and eighth inning, the team came within a run of the Kia Tigers, but after the Tigers scored two insurance runs on a home run to left center field, hit by pinch-hitter Na Ji-wan, it was too much to overcome as Kim Se-hyun retired the side.
