Kalian Sams named CanAm League player of the month
Team Kingdom of the Netherlands player Kalian Sams was named player of the month of June by the CanAm League. The player from The Hague in the Netherlands had a terrific month in which he excelled at the plate which earned him the title.
Sams hit .342 (40 for 117) for the month of June with five doubles, a triple, 12 home runs and 32 RBI. Sams also had an impressive number of 11 multi-hit games. In each of those games, he hit a dinger.

In the month of June, Sams had a couple of huge games at bat. His bat made an impact early in the month, as he went 3-for-5 on June 2 against the Rockland Boulders. He hit a double and a home run, driving in two in a 6-5 Quebec victory. That game was just an omen of a four-day stretch beginning June 6. That night, in a road game vs the Trois-Rivieres Aigles, Sams went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI as the Capitales crushed their opponent 23-1. The next day, he homered twice driving in five runs in a 15-10 win over Trois-Rivieres. During a home game on June 8, and Sams was 4-for-4 in the series opener, homering twice and driving in three runs in a 4-3 win. On June 9 against Ottawa, Sams homered again going 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, as Quebec won 8-4.
On June 27, Kalian went 3 for 5 with a double, a home run, three ribbies and three runs scored against the Trois-Rivieres Aigles in a 10-8 victory.
The 2017 season is Sams’ third in the CanAm League and it is his best by far. Currently Kalian is hitting a respectable .331, compared to .279 he hit in 2015 and .277 in 2016.
