Jiandido Trom in Eastern League All Star Game
Today the Eastern League announced the rosters for the annual All-Star Game. One Dutchie will represent the Reading Fightin Phils in Manchester NH, home of the New Hampshire FisherCats.
Jiandido Tromp is on the roster of the Eastern Division All-Star Team as one of only three players of the Reading Fightin Phils.
The invitation to the All-Star Game is another highlight during the 2017 season. Yesterday it was announced that Tromp was named Eastern League player of the week of June 19th – June 25th.
Tromp batted .455 (10-for-22) with two doubles, four home runs, seven RBIs, five runs scored and one walk in six games last week. Tromp had at least one hit in all six of the games he played had multiple hits in three of those games. The Aruba native had a stretch of hitting a home run in three straight games and four out of five. Over his last ten games, Jiandido is hitting .364.
The outfielder is hitting .283 with nine homers, 27 RBIs, and 30 runs scored in 56 games with Reading this season.
In his first three seasons, Jiandido’s development halted as he spent parts of those consecutive seasons at the New York – Penn League (A Short Season). But it seems 2017 is his breakout season. Jiandido started the season at AA (after splitting the 2016 season between A Full Season and A-Advanced) but on June 3rd, Jiandido was promoted to Lehigh Valley (AAA). In five games, Jiandido collected two hits in nine at-bats (.222) and was sent down to Reading again on June 8.
