Tom de Blok added to WhiteCaps rosters
It has taken him a while since he signed the contract with the Detroit Tigers early April, but finally, Tom de Blok has been added to the roster of the A Full Season West Michigan WhiteCaps.
After Tom has signed a contract with the Tigers, it took rather long before the paperwork was dealt with properly. After a physical, he was sent to extended spring training at the Tigers’ spring training complex in Lakeland Florida.

With his Dutch club, L&D Amsterdam Pirates, De Blok served as closer in the past few seasons. In the 2016 season, Tom had the second lowest ERA with 0.88 and he recorded five saves.
After the practice game series vs and in Japan in November 2016, Tom was approached by the Rakuten Golden Eagles to throw a tryout for the club. Through a newspaper, the
club let the world know that they were impressed by the kid, but somehow both parties did not agree on a contract.
After a solid performance with team Kingdom of the Netherlands during the World Baseball Classic, Tom was in the center of the attention. In two games, De Blok pitched an inning each and did not allow a run, allowed one hit and struck out two. He had a WHIP of 0.50. This performance and his fastball that easily hits the mid-nineties has earned him a contract with the Tigers organization.
