A major blow for team Kingdom of the Netherlands. Due to an injury to his throwing arm/shoulder, Didi Gregorius will not participate in the semi-final later today.
At the request of the New York Yankees, the Curacaoan shortstop, who served as DH, has flown back to Tampa to let the meds of the Yankees take a look at his shoulder.
Due to this injury, manager Meulens now has to find a solution to fill the DH spot.
It remains to be seen how serious the injury is. MLB season will start in thirteen days.

During this year’s WBC, Gregorius played as shortstop once, in the game vs Israel, that was lost 4-2.
In six games for team Kingdom of the Netherlands, Gregorius hit a very respectable .348 with an OBP of .385 and a slugging percentage of .652. Didi socked four doubles and a home run in 23 at bats.
Most likely person to fill the DH spot is Wladimir Balentien. His place in right field can be taken by Kalian Sams with Jurickson Profar in center and Randolph Oduber in left field.
