Grizzlies, 20 seasons in Fresno

The Fresno Grizzlies will be in Fresno for their twentieth season this year. The team landed in Fresno in 1998 where the team played at the stadium of the University of Fresno in the first four years before they moved to Chukchansi Park.

The history of the Grizzlies started in Tucson AZ. The Phoenix Firebirds where the team had to move when the Arizona Diamondbacks came to town. The team moved to Tucson and named themselves Sidewinders and affiliated with the D-Backs.
The local team, the Tucson Toros then moved to Fresno, giving the city its first professional baseball team since 1906.

Since their inaugural season the Grizzlies were the AAA affiliation of the San Francisco Giants. But after the 2014 season the Giants moved their AAA team to Sacramento all of a sudden. The Houston Astros were without a home for their AAA team after their place was taken by the Los Angeles Dodgers and Fresno was the only city without a team. So the Astros moved their AAA team to Fresno from Oklahoma City.
The Grizzlies fans were not happy with the new parent club as all they knew was the San Francisco Giants even though the Giants never brought Fresno a Pacific Coast League championship. But then in 2015 the Grizzlies fans could finally celebrate a championship as the team beat the Round Rock Express (Texas Rangers) 3-2, which gave them the right to play for the overall championship vs the winner of the International League. In that single game the Grizzlies faced the Columbus Clippers (Cleveland Indians). The Clippers did not stand a chance as they fell 7-0 to the Grizzlies, who finished a great season in style.

To celebrate their 20th season the team has unveiled several commemorative logos of which the main logo will appear on their uniform, merchandise and giveaways during promotional nights. Except for several bobbleheads giveaways, no promotions are known yet.
