What looked like a commanding lead for France was blown in three innings after which both teams entered the ninth inning with a 9-9 score.
France 12 – 9 International Stars
In the ninth inning, Jack Shannon of the International Stars, retired the side. And even though the International Stars had a runner in scoring position with less than two out but they could not push for the winning run.
So extra innings were needed. France placed Pierre Turettes on second base and Dylan Gleeson on first (tie breaker rule). Norbert Jongerius loaded the bases with a single down the left field line. Then Luc Piquet grounded into a double 1-2-4 double play, followed by a walk drawn by Felix Brown to load the bases again. When Frederic Hanvi singled to shortstop, he drove in Dylan Gleeson for the go-ahead run. Bastien Dagneau’s single to center field then drove in two runs for a 12-9 lead.
The International Stars did not score in their tenth inning and thus France walked away with the win.
Pierrick Lemestre earned the win. In the tenth inning he gave up a walk but did not allow the opponent to score.
Jack Shannon took the loss. In three innings he gave up three runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk and he struck out three.
Best hitter for France was Frederic Hanvi who went 3 for 4 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored.
