Royals PDC news
Another day with news about player development contracts.
The Kansas City Royals announced that they have extended the PDC with their rookie affiliate Idaho Falls Chukars. The new extension will run through the (you guessed it) 2018.
The director of minor league operations of the Kansas City Royals, Ronnie Richardson stated that the Royals are truly excited to continue their partnership with the Idaho Falls Chukars. “The Idaho Falls organization and the entire community continue to embrace our players and staff each year, and that truly makes Idaho Falls a special place to develop our players.”
Of course the Chukars exchanged the pleasantries the other way as well: “We couldn’t be happier with the relationship that we have developed with the Kansas City Royals over the past 12.5 seasons. They are a class organization with quality people, and we are truly proud to be a part of it”, said Chukars president and GM Kevin Greene.
Of the current Royals’ championship team, Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas and Salvador Perez have made their first steps in professional baseball with the Chukars.
Affliated baseball in Idaho Falls dates back to 1948 when the Brooklyn Dodgers was the parent club of the Idaho Falls Russets. The affiliation of the Idaho Falls Chukars and the Royals started in 2004 when the Royals took over from the Padres and the Idaho team adopted the current name after being named after the parent clubs in the previous years.
