Stijn van der Meer promoted
After only two games at GCL level, Stijn van der Meer was promoted to the Greenville Astros (high Rookie, Appalachian League).
After debuting with a single out of three at bats in his first game on Monday, the former shortstop of Curacao Neptunus and Lamar University went 3 for 3 in his second game with a triple in the sixth inning. In this game vs the GCL Cardinals, Van der Meer drove in two runs and scored one, so he produced all runs for the Astros. Nevertheless the team lost 4-3.
The Greenville Astros started a three game series last night vs the Bristol Pirates last night with a 4-2 victory over the Bucs. It will be very likely that Van der Meer will debut in the Appalachian League tonight.
Stijn is on the roster of the Astros already, wearing #1.
