Andruw Jones who hung up his spikes earlier this year, has been added to the staff of team Kingdom of the Netherlands by manager Steve Janssen.
After Jones called it a career, he was named special assistant to baseball operations of the Atlanta Braves, which makes him an outfield instructor for young players in the Minor Leagues.
His last game for team Kingdom of the Netherlands was during the Premier 12 tournament in November 2015. During that tournament Jones served as a mentor for the younger players of the team, just like he was in 2013 during the World Baseball Classic.
Steve Janssen added Jones to the staff as bench coach, a very important role.
In this role, Jones will be around during the upcoming European Cup (September 9 – 18).
Next to Andruw Jones, the staff will contain the following persons:
Pitching coach: Mike Hartley
Hitting coach: Sidney de Jong
Third base coach: Ben Thijssen
First base coach: Wim Martinus
Physiotherapist: Pepijn van Ingen
S&C trainer: Paul Venner
Equipment manager: Maarten Broersen
Scouts: David Bergman en Bernie Beckman
