Loek van Mil earns first save in ABL
Today Loek van Mil earned his first save in the Australian Baseball League.
In the game vs the Sydney Blue Sox, the towering Dutch reliever, entered the game for the Adelaide Bite in the ninth inning.
Throughout the game, the score went back and forth. The Blue Sox took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. But the Bite came back in the second inning by scoring the tying run and took a one run lead in the fourth. The Blue Sox tied the game in the top of the sixth and regained the lead one inning later. But once again the Bite tied the game in the seventh inning.
Eventually Adelaide scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth for the decisive lead.
Loek van Mil took the mound in the ninth and pitched a perfect inning as Alex Howe hit a 4-3 ground out, Joshua Strong flied out to right field and Jacob Younis grounded out to first base.
Thanks to this win and yesterday’s win over the Blue Sox, both teams are tied for fifth place with an 11-13 record, trailing first place Canberra Cavarly by five games.
