According to his representative Montis Sports Management Group, several big league clubs are interested in the slugger.

That Lee is eager to play in the Majors can be concluded after he opted out of his contract with the current NPB champion Softbank Hawks from Fukuoka.

Lee played in the Korean KBO for the Lotte Giants. In eleven seasons with the Lotte Giants, Lee batted .309.
In the last four seasons he played in the Japanese NPB, two seasons for the Orix Buffaloes and the last season for the aforementioned Softbank Hawks.  In his four years in Japan, Lee collected 622 hits in 2,122 at bats (.293).

Lee was voted MVP in this year’s Nippon Series as he batted 8 for 16 with two home runs and eight runs batted in.
In 2010 Lee set a world record by hitting home runs in nine consecutive games when he still played in the KBO.

It is very likely that the 33-year old will be signed during the MLB winter meetings (December 6-10 in Nashville TN).
