Dutchies in the Minor League play offs

Yesterday more Dutchies and their teams were eliminated from the Minor League play offs.

In the rubber game of the series between the Columbus Clippers and Sharlon Schoop’s Norfolk Tides, the Clippers beat the Tides in a very convincing way: 5-0. The Tides were outhit 12-2. Sharlon Schoop could not deliver this time and went 0 for 3. The Clippers will continue to the championship series of the International League in which they will face the Indianapolis Indians.

A Advanced

The High Desert Mavericks could not hold on to a commanding 5-2 lead as they surrendered four runs in the final two innings. Christopher Garia went 2 for 2 with an RBI, a run scored and two walks. Thanks to this 6-5 loss, the Mavs trail the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 2-1 in the semi-finals of the California League.

A Full Season

In the championship series of the South Atlantic League, the Hickory Crawdads clinched a convincing win vs the Asheville Tourists. After eight innings the Crawdads had a 7-0 lead before the Tourists scored their only two runs in the top of the ninth. Juremi Profar went 1 for 3 and drew a walk for the Crawdads. Juremi committed an error in the top of the ninth, but it did not lead to any (unearned) runs.

Advanced Rookie

In a close game, the West Virginia Black Bears beat the Staten Island Yankees 4-3. After nine innings the score was tied at three, but in the eleventh, the Black Bears scored the decisive fourth run. Danny Arribas was designated hitter once again and only went 1 for 5, but his hit was the most important of the game as he was the one that drove in the game winning run for the Black Bears
