Last night a couple of Dutchies participated in the various minor league play offs agian. Here is an overview.
The Norfolk Tides tied the series at one with a 6-1 victory over the Columbus Sharlon Schoop went 1 for 3 with a double, a walk and a run scored. In the bottom of the third inning Sharlon hit a ground rule double to left center field one a fly ball and scored on the two run homer hit by Henry Urrutia.
They play off dreams of Shawn Zarraga and the Oklahoma City Dodgers are shattered as they were swept in three games by the Round Rock Express. In three games Shawn didn’t manage to get a hit and finished the serie 0 for 10.
Christopher Garia moves on to the next round with the High Desert Mavericks, who humiliated the Lancaster JetHawks in game three 12-5. Christopher went 0 for 5 this time and struck out twice. There was some turmoil in the second inning after Mavericks’ pitcher David Perez plunked J.D. Davis of the JetHawks and was ejected. So was manager Spike Owen after disagreeing with the decision of the home plate umpire.
A Full Season
Juremi Profar got on base four times for the Hickory Crawdads in the 6-3 win over the West Virginia Power. Once he got on base on a lead off single in the second inning, twice on a walk.and once on a fielding error. Juremi scored in the fourth after he had gotten on base on the fielding error by third baseman Chase Simpson. In the sixth he scored from second base on a line drive to left field hit by Jose Cardona. The rubber game of this tied best of three series will be tonight in Hickory.
A Short Season
The Williamsport Crosscutters tied the series at one as they beat the West Virginia Black Bears 3-1 . Danny Arribas went 1 for 4 and drove in the sole run for the Black Bears. The 22-year old DH hit a linedrive single to center field in the sixth inning and drove in Christian Kelly from third.
The single that Jonathan Martijn produced and the run that he scored in his first game in the Pioneer League play offs, didn’t help the Billings Mustangs much as they fell to the Missoula Osprey. Thanks to this loss, Jonathan’s play off dreams are over.
