Chadwick Tromp promoted to AAA
Chadwick Tromp from Aruba has been promoted by the Cincinnati Reds to their AAA farm team in Louisville KY.
The 20-year old catcher played for the Dayton Dragons so far this season where he posted some pretty good numbers.
In 24 games he collected 24 hits in 82 at bats (.293) with eight doubles and six RBI. As a catcher he threw out 4 of 14 potential base stealers (almost 29%).
This promotion probably will be the result of the September call up of catcher Ramon Cabrera from AAA Louisville.
But still this promotion is a nice recognition of his abilities, since the Reds easily could have taken Garrett Boulware of the Dayton Dragons, who caught the bulk of the Dragons games so far this season. But his numbers stay far behind those of Tromp (thrown out 15% of the potential base stealers and hit .247).
Last season Chadwick split time between the AZL Reds and the Dayton Dragons (quite a step forward, from rookie to A Full Season). In 30 games with these to clubs combined, he hit .311/.345/.472. Chadwick allowed five passed balls and threw out 35% of attempted base stealers.
