Kalian Sams named CanAm League player of the week

Dutch national team player Kalian Sams, who had been struggling of late, was named player of the week by the CanAm League. The outfielder of the Quebec Capitales went 11 for 22 in six games last week.
The website of the Capitales announced the news with the following text: Kalian Sams fait parler son bâton (Kalian Sams let his bat talk).
Where Sams hit a modest .226 on July 16, he caught fire in the games after that day. Except for one game in which he went 0 for 3, he collected at least one hit in the games that followed. In six of his last ten games, Kalian collected two hits, of which two doubles and three homeruns. Four of the six games in which he collected two hits were won by les Capitales. After his last game in which Kalian went 2 for 3 with two RBI and two walks, Sams is sporting a .263 batting average.

After a long international career, which brought him to Everett, Clinton, High Desert (Adelanto) and Jackson (all (former) Mariners’ affiliates), Frisco, San Antonio, Tucson and Taiwan, the The Hague native signed a one year deal with the Quebec Capitales, the record holder in championships of the CanAm League.
