More news on Rick van den Hurk’s call up

As stated yesterday, Rick van den Hurk has received a call up by the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks.

Rick  could get his first start of the season against the Hiroshima Carp on June 14, the final day of interleague play.With a four-day break after the end of interleague play, the Hawks could temporarily remove Jason Standridge, the probable starter for the June 13th matchup, from the lineup to make way for VandenHurk.

Since the Hawks did not have enough foreign player slots on the roster for a sport for Rick, he was kept in the minors.

It remains to be seen what will happen when the four-day break is over. I really hope that he can stay on the roster of the Hawks.
