Biscuits baseball, homestand vs Chattanooga Lookouts (April 9 – April 14)
The Montgomery Biscuits played the first series at home vs the Chattanooga Lookouts (Minnesota Twins affiliate)
The Biscuits won their first game of this homestand 4-3.
In game two the Biscuits were no match for the Lookouts. Chattanooga scored four runs in the fifth and two in the ninth. All the Biscuits could do was scoring a run in the sixth and in the ninth. The Biscuits were not reall outhit since they collected eight hits and the Lookouts just two more. Notable feat, the pitching of both teams struck out a LOT of hitters. The Biscuits pitchers fanned a total of sixteen Lookouts players and the Lookouts struck out a total of fifteen.
Game three ended with the same score as game one, only with the Lookouts at the right side of the score. Jared Mortensen could not hold the lead. Mortensen pitched six innings in which he allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits. When he was pulled he had the no-decision. Zach Cooper also allowed two hits and was tabbed with the loss. He gave up two solo shots that cost the Biscuits the game.
In game four the Biscuits’ pitching kept the Lookouts line up in check rather well. Until the seventh innning that was. Reinaldo Lopez allowed three runs in six innings of work but did not allow a run. He fanned seven. But in the seventh, Jordan Harrison allowed three runs on two hits before he was pulled after 0.1 inning. In the ninth the Lookouts scored three more runs. The Biscuits were kept in check the whole game. They collected eight hits but they were so spread out over the game that the Lookouts never were in any danger.

The Biscuits scored five runs in the fifth game on Monday. But even then it was not enough. The Lookouts scored six runs in the second inning alone and added five more runs spread out over the seventh, the eighth and the ninth inning.
SP Mikey O’Brien took the loss after he lasted only two innings.
Despite the fact that the Biscuits won only one game, the team isn’t the worst in the hitting stats. So far the team is somewhere in the middle with a team batting average of .244. After five games Thomas Coyle sixth in the batting stats with a good .429.
