Roster Spot of Dutchies in US baseball, AA, A Advanced, A Full Season and A Short season

For many Dutchies is was unclear where they would start the upcoming season. With only four one day until minor league opening day, I think it is safe to say that they will play at the club on which roster they are mentioned. A few Dutchies have been promoted to a higher level recently. Here is an overview of those that have not been mentioned yet.

AA

Sharlon Schoop
The shortstop of the Dutch national team with the 2014 European Cup will play for the Bowie BaySox again. Last year he played for the same club of the Orioles organization. He clearly struggled at the plate with an average of .217. He played various positions in the infield: 2B (1.000). 3B (.953) and SS (.966).

A Full Season

Gianfranco Wawoe
After a decent season with the (now defunct) Pulaski Mariners in the Appalachian League (rookie), Gianfranco was promoted to the Clinton LumberKings of the Midwest League (A Full Season). The 20-year old shorstop from Curacao collected 55 hits in 200 at bats (in 56 games). For most of the season his average hovered around .300, but in the final weeks it slipped to .275. He played all infield positions but 1B. His fielding percentages were .962 (2B), 1.000 (3B) and .936 (SS).

Chadwick Tromp
Chadwick or Chad for short, wasn’t really promoted in the off season. He finished the season at A Full Season Dayton CTromp(Cincinnati Reds affiliate). After 25 games in the Arizona League, he was promoted to Dayton where he hit .286. In five games behind the plate, the 20-year old catcher from Aruba threw out three of four potential base stealers.

Shawn Duinkerk
This 20-year old Aruban played the last three years for the Arizona League Athletics. Last year he played CF, LF and 1B. His fielding percentage in left field was .926. He played 18 games at first base in which he stayed perfect. At bat there is a lot to improve. Last year he only batted .167. The Athletics have promoted him to the Beloit Snappers of the Midwest League (A Full Season).

A Short Season

Sherman Lacrus
The 21-year old catcher from Curacao played for the Arizona League Rangers last season. He collected 40 hits in 152 at bats (.263).  In 31 games as a catcher he posted a .984 fielding percentage. He stayed perfect in the four games he played in the outfield. The Rangers have promoted him to the Spokane Indians of the Northwest League.

There is only one big questionmark remaining: Hainley Statia. After the 2014 season he became free agent and signed with the Brewers again. But so far he is not mentioned on the roster of any of their farm teams.

There are still many on the rosters of rookie league teams. As soon as there is news about their promotion, you will read it here.
