Another blog post about Japanese Baseball. This time about the Orix Buffaloes and how they were created. Fans of Japanese baseball will know the story, but to those who are not familiar with the NPB, this may be a nice read. Before the Orix Buffaloes, there were the Orix Blue Wave and the Kintetsu Buffaloes….
In this episode of “Ballparks Around The World” we pay attention to the Kyocera Dome, home of the Orix Buffaloes. As most episodes of this item are about ballparks in the USA and Canada (to a lesser extend), it is time to pay some attention to (another) ballpark in Japan, the third after Koshien Stadium…
For years I have been following Japanese baseball and except for 2022, my favorite team, the Orix Buffaloes, never could make a name for themselves. Nevertheless, it was always a dream to see them play. That dream came true yesterday. For a long time I tried to get tickets through the internet but through Japanese…
Today was a travel day from Kyoto to Hiroshima. After two-and-a-half-hours we arrived at Hiroshima Station. There I saw something amazing that put a big smile on my face. When we checked out at the Shinkansen gate, I saw one person with a Hiroshima Toyo Carp jersey. I thought: “Nice.” Little did I know what…

Dutchie Rick van den Hurk was simply lights out today as he clinched his tenth victory of the season. Van den Hurk lasted seven innings and got just enough run support to earn the win as the Softbank Hawks defeated the Orix Buffaloes 1-0. In a real pitching matchup between Van den Hurk and Yushi…
Dutch pitcher of the Softbank Hawks, Rick van den Hurk, has clinched his ninth victory today with a 5-1 win over the lowly Orix Buffaloes. Rick lasted eight innings on the mound and threw 119 pitches to accomplish the feat. Rick gave up a run in the first inning when Yoshida Masanori scored on Masahiro…
