Deurne Spartans And Coaches Go Separate Ways
Tonight, the Dutch Baseball Hangout was informed that two coaches of the Deurne Spartans will leave the club. The reason was not disclosed.
A reliable source informed the Dutch Baseball Hangout, that Orlando Stewart has been released. Robbie Group decided to follow Stewart. Ronald De Vriendt, a die hard Spartan, will remain with the club. A college of four players will take care of the coaching until further notice: Boulet Diaz, José Luis Larringa Ocampo, Elvis Polanco, and Angel WilliamsTito Rodriguez, better known as Tito.
The board of the Spartans wants to keep the reason for this decision within the club and does not give any comment.
The decision to part ways with the two aforementioned coaches comes as a surprise for an outsider like me. The Spartans are clearly a contender, trailing Hoboken by eight games. But the latter is still a class of its own. Last weekend, Deurne swept the Borgerhout Squirrels. In the coming weeks, both the Squirrels and the Spartans will have to face Hoboken Pioneers in a doubleheader, and both teams will face each other in a doubleheader as well. With Deurne leading Borgerhout by a game in the standings, everything is still possible.
