Padres turn back the clock (sort of) with new unis
This is my kind of thing. Another rebranding. Perhaps only for one year, but I don’t care. 🙂
For the fifth time since 1991, the Padres have changed uniforms.
Yesterday they unveiled a set of new uniforms that they will wear in 2016.
The new uniforms are a homage to the unis that the Padres wore in the seventies and early eighties.
Their home uni will be white with the yellow-navy SD logo on the left chest and a yellow-navy piping running up and down around the neck and along the buttons. The cap that comes with it is a navy one with a yelllow-white interlocking SD logo on the front.

The Padres will also wear a special Friday night jersey. This jersey is a homage to the Yellow-Brown period of the club in the seventies and early eighties. Even the famous Taco Bell cap comes with it.

A third new jersey that the Padres presented is the new digital camo jersey that honours the US troops. Not really my cup of tea, but hey it is new, so I mention it.

The first two uniforms have been presented to commemorate the 2016 All Star Game that will be played in San Diego. But against all odds, the American League team will be the home team here. Normally the even years are the ones in which the AL should host an All Star Game.
This will be the first time in Major League Baseball history that a host team will wear a commemorative jersey for its All-Star season. The jersey will have an All-Star patch on the left sleeve.
