Dutch hoofdklasse 2017: Round 10, day 3
On day three of round ten, Curaçao Neptunus headed to Oosterhout to face De Glaskoning Twins, Pickles UVV hosted Hoofddorp Pioniers and DSS headed to Bussum to face HCAW. None of the games had a surprising outcome.
Curaçao Neptunus 7 – 2 De Glaskoning Twins
No excessive win for Curaçao Neptunus but the team scored enough runs for an easy
win. In the second and third inning, the Rotterdam-based team scored three runs, in the third partially thanks to a two-run home run by Gianison Boekhoudt.
In the second inning, Neptunus had to do a bit more effort to get three runs. Back-to-back walks and three stolen bases by Dwayne Kemp and Gianison Boekhoudt, put runners in scoring position before Daniel Fernandes hit a sac fly to drive in Kemp and to advance Boekhoudt to third. After Ruar Verkerk drew a walk, Urving Kemp doubled to center field to drive in Boekhoudt for the second run of Neptunus. The third run was scored on a sac fly by Jochem Koedijk to center field.
De Glaskoning Twins got on the board in the third inning when Mick Molenaar hit a leadoff double. Molenaar advanced to third on a 6-3 groundout by Menno Lenting. Mick would score on a single through the left side hit by Jamie Verheyleweghen.
Twins would score their second run in the sixth inning. With two out, Melvin Perdue singled down the left field line and advanced to second on a throwing error by second baseman Dwayne Kemp. After Gino Yonis drew a walk, Chris Gé singled to center field to drive in Perdue.
Eventually, Neptunus scored an unearned run on a throwing error by catcher Chris Gé when Gianison Boekhoudt stole second and Christian Diaz scored.
Once again, Elton Koeiman pitched a helluva game. In six innings, he gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk and struck out five. Nic van de Ven took the loss. In four innings he gave up six runs on five hits and three walks and struck out two. Twins’ Japanese reliever Daisuke Yamashita pitched two perfect innings as he struck out four.
Best hitter for Curaçao Neptunus was Gianison Boekhoudt, who went 2 for 3 with two RB and two runs scored.

Hoofddorp Pioniers 7 – 3 Pickles UVV
One big offensive inning was enough for Hoofddorp Pioniers to clinch the win vs Pickles
UVV. After a six-run third inning, Pioniers never looked back, even though UVV scored three runs in the eighth inning.
In a third inning in which ten Pioniers hitters stepped into the batter’s box, and in which UVV committed four errors, Pioniers scored six, partially thanks to Shurman Marlin who stole home plate. Next to the four errors, a double, two walks and two singles led to the six runs Pioniers scored in that inning.
In the meantime, Nick Keur pitched a gem for the win. In seven innings, he gave up just four hits and a walk and fanned five. He needed 99 pitches to do so. Gilian van Lith took
the loss after three innings in which he allowed six runs (only one earned) on three hits and three walks and struck out two.
UVV got on the board in the eighth inning when Bryce Cherry and Berend Ruben, who both drew a walk, were driven in on a home run to left center field, hit by Sergino Martis.
Best hitters for Hoofddorp Pioniers were Joey Eeman and Duco Nuijten. Both went 2 for 4, Eeman with a double and a run scored and Nuijten with a RBI.
DSS 0 – 3 HCAW
In a game that took 2 hours and 21 minutes, HCAW stayed at the right side of the score, thanks to a three-run seventh inning. In the other innings not really much happened. Besides this seventh inning, HCAW had a runner on third base four times but failed to score in all occasions.
Ian DeleMarre pitched a nine-inning shutout in which he gave up only four hits, walked six and fanned two. The pitching of DSS did not do a bad job either. Three pitchers combined for nine hits allowed, six walks allowed and four strikeouts. Donny Breek took the loss as he gave up two runs in 6.1 innings.
In the seventh inning, back-to-back walks and a wild pitch put runners in scoring position for HCAW. A single to center field, hit by Roelie Henrique, drove in Dylan Koster and Rachid Engelhardt. The third run was scored after Roelie Henrique could advance to third base on Boyd Tuhumury’s 5-3 groundout. Kevin Dirksen singled home Henrique.
Best hitter fro HCAW was Delano Selassa, who went 2 for 2 with a double.
