European Cup 2015: Results of day three in Rotterdam and Paris

A.S.D. Rimini Pirates @ Templiers de Senart  2 – 11

In Rotterdam A.S.D. Rimini Pirates took on Temliers de Senart in the morning.
What most fans already knew happened: Templiers de Senart wasn’t a match for Rimini.
Only in the second inning the players of Rimini flexed their muscles. After a two run first inning, the game was decided in that second inning.
Pierangelo Cit drew a lead off walk. Singles by Desimoni and Olmedo loaded the bases. Consecutive singles by Zileri and Massanti drove in three runs to make it 5-0. After Riccardo Bretagnon loaded the bases again with a single, Christopher Morel gave up a walk to Edgar Mundarain that allowed Leonardo Zileri to score. A sac fly by Paul Macaluso drove in another run and the final run of the second inning was scored on a single to center field by Riccardo Babini.
Rimini scored another run in the third and two more in the fourth to reach their total of eleven runs.
Les Templiers de Senart put themselves on the board in the bottom of the sixth. Singles by Mohamed Baoui and Jacques Boucheron followed by a HBP given up by pitcher Biondi of Rimini to Jason Mahood, loaded the bases. Rolando Merino singled home Baoui and Boucheron for Senart .
Tommaso Cherubini earned the win by pitching five full innings. He struck out four and gave up two hits. Christopher Morel lasted three innings and took the loss. He was responsible for all the runs that Rimini scored.  He struck out two and gave up eleven (!) walks.
Rolando Merino was the best hitter for Senart, going 2 for 3 with two runs batted in. Edgar Mundarain went 2 for 2 for Rimini and drove in two runs.

Draci Brno @ KNTU Elizavetgrad  11 – 6

This game between Draci (Dragons) Brno and KNTU Elizavetgrad was very entertaining. It was a high scoring game with a couple of errors. Perhaps for the real connoisseur maybe it wasn’t the best level , but IMHO it was a very nice game to watch.
When Brno took a 4-0 lead in the first inning, it looked like the Czechs would walk away easily. Well they did, but who would expect that Elizavetgrad would come back?
After the top of the seventh inning, Draci Brno was leading 9-1 and it looked like they would need eight innings to finish the game. But in the bottom of the seventh, Eizavetgrad scored three runs and in the eighth two more to get within three runs of Brno. Unfortunately for the Ukrainians, Brno scored two more runs to reach the final score of 11-6.
Radim Chroust went the distance and allowed six runs on fifteen hits. He struck out seven and walked one.  Dmytro Limarenko lasted 5.2 innings and took the loss. He allowed seven runs (five earned), walked five and struck out five. Best hitter of Draci Brno was Adam Hajtmar. He went 3 for 5 with a homeruna and with three RBI. Konstiantyn Bioko went 5 for 5 for Elizavetgrad with a double and three runs scored.

Curacao Neptunus @ Heidenheim Heidekoepfe  15 – 1

Neptunus took on the runner up of last year’s German championship. You hope for a exciting game  with two teams are each other’s match. Well it went a “bit” differently.
After a scoreless inning, Neptunus took an 8-0 partially because of four errors.  At one point with two outs, Rien Vernooij could have been the final out as he hit the ball towards third baseman James McOwen, but the latter totally missed first base with his throw and two extra runs were scored before the final out was made in that inning. After that second inning the game was already played and Neptunus only had to play the rest of the game. But during the rest of the game they scored seven more runs.  The Heidenheim Heidekoepfe got on the board in the fourth when McOwen scored from third on a single by Johannes Krumm.  Neptunus needed seven innings to finish the game.
Kenny van den Branden pitched four innings for Neptunus, so he did not get the win. Floris Timmer got the win instead. He pitched one inning in which he allowed one hit and struck out two.
Tyler Lockwood took the loss as helasted only 2.1 innings and allowed eight runs (one earned (!)) on nine hits.  He walked one and struck out one. Best hitter for Neptunus was Gyenuar Lopez who went 2 for 3. Sacha Lutz was the best hitter for the Heidekoepfe, as he went 2 for 4.

Brest Zubrs @ L&D Amsterdam Pirates  0 – 8

Brest Zubrs and L&D Amsterdam Pirates took on at noon in Paris.
It wasn’t much of a game as Pirates led the game 8-0 after three innings. In Brest’s first at bat Jimmy Osinga started the game by giving up a walk but he recovered well despite a fielding error by third baseman Jorin van Amstel.
Linoy Croes got on base thanks to a bunt, followed by a walk drawn by Michael Duursma.  When both runners tried to steal the next base, Linoy Croes was thrown out at third but Duursma managed to get on second. Kenny Berkenbosch was the second out for Pirates as he grounde out 5-3.
Despite recording two quick outs, Zubrs pitcher Kiryl Kazlouski could not get out of the inning. Remco Draijer hit a ground rule double that allowed Michael Duursma to score the opening run for Pirates.  After Koen Nooij drew a walk, Jesse Aussems doubled  to right field and drove in Draijer and Nooij to make it 3-0. Still not able to record the final out, Kazlouski walked Rachid Gerard and gave up a single to Patrick Bok that eventually led to two more runs in the first inning.
One run in the second and two runs in the third inning put the 8-0 score on the board. After the third inning, Pirates slowed down. The Belarus team never put the Dutch team in danger. Jimmy Osinga earned the win after eight innings of shut out ball. He allowed two hits, gave up one walk and struck out four.  Kazlouski lasted the full eight innings. He gave up eight runs (six earned) on ten hits for the loss. He struck out two and walked eight.
Remco Draijer was the best hitter for Pirates, collecting two doubles in five at bats, driving in a run and scoring one himself.

Solingen Alligators @ T&A San Marino 0 – 4

The afternoon game was the one between the Solingen Alligators and T&A San Marino.  Despite the outcome it looks to me that Solingen played a good game. Losing only by four runs to an Italian team isn’t bad in my humble opinion.
San Marino openend the score in the third inning when Jack Santora scored from third on a single hit by Jaro Ramos.  In the sixth inning, with runners on third and second, San Marino extended their lead when Mario Chiarini singled through the right side of the infield. Eventually they added one more run in the eighth inning to reach the final score.
Andrea Pizziconi pitched eight innings for the win. He allowed four hits and fanned nine.  Enorbel Marquez lasted seven innings but took the loss for Solingen. He allowed three runs on seven hits, walked three and struck out four. Mario Chiarini went 2 for 3 with two runs batted in. Markus Stryczek went 2 for 3 for Solingen to earn the honor of being their best hitter.

UnipolSai Bologna @ PUC  11 – 0

In Paris the night game wasn’t much different than the one in Rotterdam . A blow out score by the established baseball power.  UnipolSai Bologna was vastly superior over PUC and needed only seven innings.  The Italians limited PUC to only three runs.  Bologna scored runs in the first (2), third (2), fourth (3), fifth (1) and sixth inning (3). PUC had runners in scoring position three time, twice on third base and once on second base but they failed to score.
Winning pitcher was Salomon Marinez, who pitched a seven inning  “complete” game in which he gave up three hits, as stated before, walked one and fanned three.
Maxime Monbeig took the loss for PUC. He lasted 3.2 inings and gave up seven runs (six earned) on nine hits. He walked one and struck out four.
Best hitter for Bologna was Alessandro Vaglio, who went 4 for 5 with two runs batted in and a run scored.  Oscar Saavedra, who entered the game as a pinch runner, went 1 for 1 for PUC.
