Yanks from almost ten above to only two above .500

It was one of those nights. All American League East teams lost. So that was the good news for the Yankees. The bad news is that they lost again, their third straight. In their last ten they lost seven.
Even an ejection of Bryce Harper and manager Matt Williams couldn’t bring them the win.

The Yankees took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but as the game continued, the Nats inched closer, tied it and ran away with a 3-2 win.
Bright spot, the Yankees did get some hits, even one more than the Nats. Not so bright spot, Adam Warren issued too many walks that proved to be the difference in this game.

With the first two runs, the Nats used the long ball, both solo shots. But their third run, in the seventh inning, came after third baseman Chase Headley committed a fielding error on Wilson Ramos’ hit. Warren gave up two walks to load the bases, followed by what proved to be the game winning single given up by Justin Wilson to Denard Span.

Another bright spot for the baseball fans from Curacao and the Netherlands was Didi Gregorius going 2 for 4, so he produced a third of the hits that were collected by the Yankees. Next to seeing the ball well, Gregorius made a nice running  catch in shallow left field.

The Yankees are tied with the Rays for first place, two games above .500 and 2.5 games ahead of Boston.

The Nationals are now in sole posession of first place, overtaking the slumping Mets.
