2026 Belgian Divison One: Championship Tournament, Day 2.
On the second day of the Championship tournament two games were played: Borgerhout Squirrels vs Brasschaat Braves and Merchtem Cats vs Hoboken Pioneers.

Borgerhout Squirrels 4 – 0 Brasschaat Braves
Even though the score may tell a different story, the Braves didn’t stand a chance against the Squirrels. They were outhit 12 – 3, partially thanks to Squirrels pitcher Taliesin Tardrew-O’Meara. He struck out ten to earn the win.

In the third inning, Harry Deliyannis recorded two quick outs but then failed to get out of the inning. He gave up singles to Tim Veraghtert and Cedric Vandesompele, and a double to Sam Boermans, leading to two runs for the Squirrels.
In the seventh inning, with the bases loaded, Nick Vanthillo singled singled to left center field, to drive in two more runs for Borgerhout.

Harry Deliyannis took the loss despite fanning twelve.
The best hitter for the Borgerhout Squirrels was Tim Veraghtert, who went 3 for 4 with two runs scored.
Merchtem Cats 0 – 13 Hoboken Pioneers

Hoboken Pioneers needed only seven innings to clinch the victory. Only in the third inning, Pioneers didn’t score. In the other six innings, they scored at least one.
Three Hoboken pitchers combined for a one-hitter. Only Carlos Adrian Valero Polo allowed one hit. He struck out six. His team mates Kevin Desmedt and Ben van Nuffel had a K each.
Pioneers collected seventeen hits of which Benjamin Goffaux collected the most (three). Vegas Tiliakos had the best average (.667, 2 for 3), and Frank Alejandro Prieto Burgos drove in the most runs (four).

Kevin Desmedt earned the win after one inning of relief in which he struck out one. Nick van de Voorde took the loss. In 3.2 innings, he gave up seven runs on eleven hits and a walk.
The Braves will face the Cats tomorrow in a do-or-die game. The loser will be eliminated. The Hoboken Pioneers and the Borgerhout Squirrels advance to the next game in which they will face each other.
