Ballparks Around The World: ISG Field

In today’s episode of “Ballparks Around The Word” we pay attention to ISG Field, home of the Mankato Moondogs of the Northwoods League.

As the name of the collegiate team already suggests, ISG Field is located in Mankato, MN. It is a small cosy ballpark with a capacity of 2,200.

The ballpark was constructed in 1961 and it opened its doors as Key City Park. In 1977 the ballpark was renamed after local sportswriter Franklin Rogers. Between the 2017 and 2018 seasons, the ballpark received $4 million in upgrades. Renovations include a fully artificial turf playing surface, new concession stand, a video board, a new hospitality deck, light towers, a roof above the grandstand, and other amenities. In 2020, ISG, a local firm of which one of the Moondogs owners is chairman, acquired the naming rights of the ballpark.

From 1967 through 1968, Key City Park was home to the Mankato Mets, a farm team of the New York Mets in the Northern League.

Despite the fact that this ballpark is only 64 years old, it has an old time look and feel. The dimensions of the diamond are: Left field 315 feet, left center field 383 feet, center field 386 feet, right center field 381 feet, and right field 325 feet.

After the latest renovation in 2018, the ballpark has the following facilities:
